Pizza Massilia
Instead of fighting the masses of people trying to have a romantic dinner on the big day of love, I think we did right by celebrating our Valentine’s one day early.

The evening started with a movie we both had been waiting for, Alita: The Battle Angel and we were totally hyped up about it.
I have been waiting for this movie ever since I heard about it. I’ve been a fan of the comic books since way back when and I was absolutely ecstatic that the movie came out awesome! I could go watch it again kind of awesome. Honest!
That sure was a great set up for our dinner at Pizza Massilia on Sukhumvit 49 Road.

The Concept

The restaurant’s concept was born from the idea between a chef, Luca Appino (of La Bottega di Luca) and a French businessman, Fred Meyer (creator of Issaya Siamese Club) who brought the delicious pizza recipes all the way from Naples, Italy to bring to Thailand.

The Atmosphere

On the outside, the Pizza Massilia is an unassuming bright blue building with light signage located in early Sukhumvit 49 Road.
Stepping inside it offers a totally different atmosphere with contrasting color patterns on pastel-colored walls. The restaurant also has an outdoor seating area which if the weather provides, would be absolutely ideal under the tree canopy and warm lights.

The Food

The list of indulgence tonight began with a starter, Treviso Radicchio Salad (490THB) – “Tardivo” Radicchio salad served with Gorgonzola sauce topped with sweet and sour onion and walnut. The dish offers very supple bites with a perfect mixture of sweet, sour, saltiness from the cheese, and occasional bitterness from the walnut.

Our next plate was the Four Cheeses pizza (590THB) – thin crusted pizza with Piennolo tomato and Taleggio, Gorgonzola, Smoked Scamorza, and Toma cheeses. I mean, the name of the restaurant is Pizza Massilia after all.

We decided to have another savory dish and went with the Lobster Angel Hair pasta dish (1,790THB) and when the dish arrived our jaws dropped. The lobster is served in a large plate with the whole Canadian lobster taking center stage, served with homemade angel hair pasta in organic cheery tomato sauce and fresh herbs.

Pizza Massilia aims to offer the best quality products and I can tell you they are not holding back.
We asked for recommendations from the helpful staff and decided to try one red wine, Echeverria Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva (Chile 2017) (220THB/glass), and one white and Echeverria Sauvignon Blanc Reserva (Chile 2017) (220THB/glass) to go with the dishes … and a few extra Chivas Coke just for balance.
Up to this point, you’d think we probably had enough, right?
Wrong.

The Desserts

Like my dad always says, there’s always another stomach for desserts. So we decided to conclude our meal with an order of Tiramisu (290THB) – traditional Italian Tiramisu with Mascarpone, coffee, and cocoa powder and Meringue & Crumble (160THB) comes with a selection of ice cream, I chose Vanilla ice cream, served with meringue and almond crumble.

Every bite was sensational.
