Viva Filipinas

Viva Filipinas is a gorgeous and homey dining venue hidden on the fourth floor of Akara Hotel Bangkok. This is one of the best restaurants in Bangkok to enjoy sumptuous Filipina cuisine and more.

Owned by Mrs. Zenaida Vannaying and her family, they also own the already well-known Lola’s Kitchen.

The floor is surrounded by lush wooden interior decor with a walkway leading into the restaurant. The colorful seating boots lined the walls with an open kitchen.

There’s an area where live bands play a mix of classics to add more life to the parties.

The interior is of varnished wooden walls, doors, and tiles with one side leading out to the balcony overlooking Phaya Thai Road.

One of the most notable features here aside from all the delicious and skillfully made cuisine has to be the friendly and immaculately helpful staff. I don’t have enough good things to say about them.

We walked out onto the floor with a line of the buffet, ready for the picking. The meal took off with Lumpiang Sariwa—fresh spring rolls with an assortment of vegetables and soft wrapper garnished beautifully with sweet sauce and crushed peanuts. I seriously couldn’t have enough of this, honest.

The Smoked Rellenong Bangus was beautiful and savory. The Bangus or milkfish is marinated and minced with potatoes, carrots, raisins, bell pepper, pickles, and spices.

Another must-not-miss is the roasted rolled pork belly served with pickled papaya.

While the sweets include beautifully made Flan cake (which I ate too many), creamy Buko Pie, or Bibingka, fresh fruits, and more.
