Thailand extends temporary visas until July 31, 2020

The government spokesperson confirmed the visa extension for all temporary-stay visas to July 31, 2020. This is automatic for all visitors on temporary visa stays. There are no additional fees and no need to present documents or visit an Immigration Bureau.

Thailand, yesterday, announced an extension for foreigners with temporary stay visas to stay in the country until July 31, while the 90-day reporting is suspended until then as well.

The Thai Cabinet approved a second extension of an earlier concession that automatically extended visas until July 31.

A notification of the Ministry of Interior will become law once it is published in the Royal Gazette probably by the end of the week. Once the Ministry of Interior ruling is published on the Royal Gazette the Immigration Bureau will update the details on its website.

The automatic visa extension is to end the need to queue at Immigration Bureaus to extend their visas in person since it poses a health risk that contravened the government’s social distancing instructions to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
